Group: Engineering
International Admission: Bachelor

Program types
Six types of programs are offered: four-year day and evening bachelor’s degree programs for vocational senior high school graduates, two-year day and evening bachelor’s degree programs for junior college graduates, a five-year associate degree program for junior high school graduates, and a two-year evening associate degree program for vocational senior high school graduates..

Educational objectives
The Department aims to help students gain the knowledge of electronic devices, computer and information technologies, signal processing, and acquire professional skills in hardware/software system design and maintenance. Specifically, students will be able to analyze and design software programs, master the application of computer networks, and design electronic circuits and computer hardware systems.

Departmental features
The Department devotes itself mainly to the research and development of embedded systems and computer networks. Its other features include the integration of skill certificate acquisition into the curriculum, the career-oriented core curriculum, and students’ excellent records in domestic and international competitions. The facts that more and more students acquire skill certificates and that Hwa Hsia Team was ranked 15th in the 2002 ACM Asia Programming Contest, and ranked 10th in 2005 provide evidence of our achievements.

Departmental facilities
To develop students’ practical skills and strengthen their professional capability, ten laboratories have been established, including a Computer Communication Lab, a System Development Lab, a Digital Circuits Lab, a Microcomputer Applications Lab, a Microcomputer Interface Lab, a Medical Engineering Lab, a Computer Network Lab, a Software Engineering Lab, a Software Design Lab, and an Applied Electronics Lab. In addition, there are 30 research rooms for the teaching staff and students to carry out research.

Student career development
The career development of our graduates is very promising. They may pursue graduate studies in the fields of electronics, information engineering, and electrical engineering. Alternatively, they may work in the public or private sector as software/hardware/firmware engineers, network engineers, application engineers, system analysts, and so on.
