Program types
Four-year day and evening bachelor’s degree programs for vocational senior high school graduates are offered in the Department.

Educational objectives
The Department aims to equip students with professional knowledge and skills in architectural design and engineering. In order to reach the goal, the following students’ abilities are given priority to cultivate: 1. creativity and organizing ability for the comprehensive architectural design; 2. professional skills in cultural creativity and green architectural technology and the ability to apply these skills in commercial, industrial design and space design; 3. the abilities to design, plan, survey, construct, test, renovate, and get professional licenses.

Departmental features
1. Cultural space design
Students’ cultural space design ability is emphasized. Their training involves diverse areas so as to broaden their vision, to take local environment and global views into consideration, and to combine aesthetics, art, humanities with engineering. Courses concerning space planning, interior design and computer-aided design are developed and offered so as to train students to be creative cultural space designers.
2. Sustainable architectural design
Courses and research concerning the integration of green building technology into architectural design are emphasized. A Green Architecture Lab and a Green Building Demonstration Center are established. Through the courses, experiments and students’ independent studies, they will be able to acquire the essence of sustainable architecture.
With the emphasis put on cultural space design and sustainable architectural design, students are expected to become creative designers.

Departmental facilities
Major teaching and research facilities include a Multimedia Design Classroom, a Controlled Environment Lab, a Building Materials Lab, a Survey Automation Lab, a Multimedia Internet Classroom, a Digital Architecture Lab, an Auditorium, an Exhibition Room, a Design Discussion Room, a library, and independent study rooms, etc. All the spaces are installed with modern equipment and wired for access to the Internet. In addition, the library contains 37 professional journals and more than 1500 electronic journals.

Student career development
While most of the students find jobs in architectural firms, interior design firms, building companies, or construction companies after graduation, some students continue their studies in graduate schools of related fields, or pass the civil service exam and become government employees.
