Program Types

  1. The Department provides four-year day and evening bachelor’s degree programs for vocational high school or senior high school graduates, and a two-year weekend bachelor’s degree program for junior college graduates.
  2. Minimum credit points for four-year and two-year programs are 128 and 72, respectively.
  3. The tuition for a semester (two semesters a year) is about NTD 54,000 (USD 1,700).

Educational Objectives

The Department aims at equipping students with the knowledge of computer hardware/software system design and information technologies. In order to achieve the objectives, students are required to practice designing and analyzing software programs as well as to take courses in network management. In addition, the acquisition of international licenses is encouraged.

Departmental Features

The Department puts emphasis on providing students with a solid foundation in multimedia programming and network technology. Three programs are provided: multimedia programming, network programming, and network management so as to strengthen students’ abilities to design hardware and software as well as to integrate their systems. Moreover, the Department encourages students to acquire certifications from Microsoft, Cisco, Sun, and Linux before graduation.

Departmental Facilities

The Department is located in the same building as the Computer Center. It is convenient to use 7 large-scale computer laboratories, including more than 400 new computers. In order to strengthen teaching facilities, we have set up a Computer Network Laboratory, a Computer Programming Laboratory, and a Cisco Network Certifications Laboratory. Besides, the Department provides many research rooms for teaching staff and students to carry out research.

Student Career Development

Graduates from our department may pursue graduate studies in computer science, information technology, electronic engineering, electrical engineering, management information systems or other related fields at home or abroad. If students choose to seek employment after graduation, their career prospects are very promising. They may land jobs in a great variety of environments in academia, research, industry, government, private and business organizations. They will find it is worthwhile to become computer professionals.
